mission
The mission of astronomyLINKS is to provide an index of the best astronomy and space related web sites found around the world on the Internet.

------------------------

goals
The goals of this web site are to:

...provide users with excellent links to astronomy and space related web sites.
...keep the headlines updated frequently.
...make the site is reasonably cross-platform compatible.
...ensure reasonable cross-browser compatibility, especially in NS, IE and Opera.
...keep the site viewable for at least 800x600 screen resolution, with no horizontal scroll bar at 640x480.
...make the site FAST loading with a low graphic load and a low JavaScript and HTML size per page. The goal is for each page to be around 50k or less in total download size.
...keep it visually pleasing; both men and women should enjoy it.
...make it easy to navigate.

This site was tested and found to render acceptably in Netscape 6.0, Mozilla 1.0 and Internet Explorer 5.x+, and on both Macintosh and Windows based computers.

If any of these goals were not met, please and let us know how we can improve your experience with this web site.

------------------------

who?
This web site is a service of the @stro pages, a web site specializing in amateur astronomy. It is run by Roger Herzler and you can see more about him at the @stro pages web site

------------------------

why?
astronomyLINKS sprung up as a result of the links page on the @stro pages simply becoming too huge. A re-design was considered when that page got too big, but then it was then realized that page could spin-off into the web site that you're visiting now.
